NASoW inaugurates new executives in Kaduna [PHOTOS]
The new executives of Kaduna state chapter of Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW) have been inaugurated.
The new executives were inaugurated on Wednesday at the conference room of ministry of Human services and Social Development, Kaduna state.
The inauguration was attended by the commissioner of the Ministry of Human services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba, Permanent secretary, Stephen Joseph, NASoW National Vice President, North West, Mallam Jamilu Musa and Directors and of management staff of the Ministry.
The executives is headed by Comfort Jummai Bangoji (Chairperson), Auta Rehab (Vice Chairman), Silas Spencer Idera (Secretary), Salisu Usman (Assistant Secretary) and Musa Adamu Abba ((Financial Secretary).
Others are; Barrister Ruqayya Abdulaziz (Treasurer), Denis Kumar Victor (Social Welfare) Ibrahim Ahmed Awal (Auditor) and Sani Babayo (Public Relations Officer).
Baba in her address, welcomed and congratulated the new officials and also advised them to be active and reflect their presence in all 23 LGA in the state.
She continued by saying that a Social Worker ought to be there to offer support and assistance at all times. Following their swearing-in and receipt of their certificates, she concluded by wishing the leadership a fruitful term.
The permanent secretary sent a message of goodwill and pledged that the government would fully support the efforts made by the association to become a successful organization in the state.
Bangoji in her speech assured that her executives will work to ensure that the association's mission and vision are realized since social workers are committed to making social work appealing, admirable, and significant in the state, thereby fulfilling their mandate "service to Humanity".
NASoW National Vice President, North West, Mallam Jamilu Musa, gave an overview of the association.
He said that the association was registered in October 1975, recognized by International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) and also by act of parliament as the umbrella body for all social work organizations in Nigeria.
He also discussed the association's successes as well as the actions that need be taken to more the association forward. He drew the attention of the new executives on mobilization of membership registration and renewal, forthcoming IFSW Africa Regional Conference in November this year and the Nigeria Council of Social Work Act recently as signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He called on the Commissioner of the ministry to assist the association with office accommodation, imprest and logistics to enable them reach out to all social workers in 23 Local Government in the state.
